Welcome to the Ouachita Mountain Hikers Club!
Who Are We?
The Ouachita Mountain Hikers is an informal group with members who have various levels of hiking ability.
We hike twice a week September through early June…
- Most Saturday hikes are easier hikes (4-6 miles) in places like Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas State Parks and Hot Springs Village.
- Most Thursday hikes are more difficult hikes (8-12 miles) on forest trails in places like the Ouachita National Recreation Trail and Ouachita National Forest.
We take monthly overnight trips…
- that allow us to hike more distant trails in the Ozarks, along the Buffalo National River and in nearby states.
Why do we hike?
- To have fun, and to enjoy the camaraderie of other hikers.
- To Stay healthy, because hiking is great exercise!
- To enjoy the “Natural State.” Arkansas’ most beautiful places are on the trails. Hiking helps you to learn your way around.
- To Serve the trails. We help with trail maintenance, litter patrols and fundraisers. We support Hot Springs National Park, National Forest Service and State Parks.
